More pieces have appeared. Seems to have the normal intros, variations, break, endings.. few other buttons I can't figure out. Anyway what the hell is that instrument supposed to portray that plays in the background? A fuckin' violin? Or some kinda bagpipe played with shaky hands? That's probably trying to showcase SA2 technology, but hell it sounds horrible if ya ask me ![]() |

Oh yeah, with a few more pieces it will maybe look something like this ![]() ![]() Agree with you m8, the bagpipe sounds terrible. I hope for Yamaha's sake this does not represent the other SA2 sounds. |

So Ken whaddya think, you gonna get a Tyros3 then? I understand you still haven't got the 2 either you gonna wait another 3 years and hope Yamaha or someone hands it to you on a platter, for free?I just got some new info (alledged specifications) from a UK dealer. Posting it here soon. I'm also planning to attend the Tyros3 launch in October, organized by the same dealer in East Sussex, UK. |

Have to wait and see; maybe I buy the Tyros3. Right now it doesn't seem to be much more than tiny bit extended Tyros2. |

Yamaha TYROS 3 Preliminary Information (Email received from a UK dealer, http://www.bonner...3_Keyboard) Yamaha have not yet officially launched Tyros 3 to the general retail industry. I was privileged to be among the very few chosen to have sneak preview of the prototype Tyros 3 at Frankfurt, which was tucked away in a private room for VIP guests only. You might be thinking Tyros 3 will be just a re-boxed Tyros 2. You couldn't be more wrong; yet again this is a huge jump forward, more so than when Tyros 1 went to Tyros 2. A Tyros 3 is twice as good as Tyros 2 because they have doubled the amount of wave memory found in Tyros 2. Wave memory is what creates the sound and if this is doubled then every sound will sound twice as good. It will have much more depth and realism in sound and now has a more powerful sound engine than a Motif XS Synth. The piano sound now has the same sound as the top of the range Clavinova CLP280. Martin Harris is Yamaha's chief programmer/ project developer and is responsible for the way Tyros 3 sounds. Martin introduced Tyros 3 to us like a proud father for the first time. With a brief introduction Tyros 3 emerged out of the wall like a new BMW being launched in a cloud of smoke. Never before have I seen a preview with such grandeur! Martin went straight into a medley of tunes showing off Tyros 3 at it best. Working from classical to present day Martin showed how Tyros 3 has grown up and has become suitable for both home market and professionals a like. Tyros 3 is due to be launched in October 2008. We will keep you posted with the latest developments between now and the release date Tyros 3 has been completely re-designed both internally & externally. This is not just a re-boxed Tyros 2!! Due to be launched in October 2008. Looks different - buttons laid out in a more logical manner Sounds Double the amount of wave memory found in Tyros 2. This gives it much more depth and realism in sound. It now has a more powerful sound engine than a Motif XS Synth. New "Live Concert" piano sound (from CLP280) New Super Articulation 2 sounds which are even better than the Super Articulation sounds found in Tyros 2. Many other sounds have been upgraded and sound more realistic New Rhythms 100 Completely new styles - covering all genres. Higher standard of style programming of - they sound more authentic. More effects can be used in the styles, which adds to the realism. Original rhythms from Tyros 1 & 2 have been re-voiced to take advantage of the new sounds & effects. They sound completely different. New Effects New high quality master reverb effect Better use of DSP, which is easier to assign to the different parts. New high definition TFT Screen (as found in laptops), can been seen at any angle and less light reflection. Ideal for on stage or outdoors. Super Articulation has been improved, and is now useable by all players - professional or not! Super Articulation can be controlled by footswitch or by the two new controller buttons located next to the modulation wheel. This now gives extra musical ability never seen before on keyboards. It will give the player; Portamento / Slide, Grace notes, Clicks, Rotary, Vibrato, Growl, Distortion, Clicks, Knocks etc |

Sounds like the new Super Articulation2 bagpipe! No kidding! This is rumored to have been included in the new SA2 voices and now we can hear it. It don't think a lot of us will get much use from this voice. I also think what you are hearing is one of the new Movie/Film styles. There are said to be two new movie/film styles, one of them sounding like something from Gladiator. I will bet that is what you hear in the bagpipe piece. Tom G. Tyros2 / Tyros |

About the Piano sound we hear in the first puzzle (click on the 4 pieces in bottom right corner); it is a pity it is just a modified piano! We need something new when launching such a great new keyboard.

...hey, bagpipes originally were intended as war instruments, chasing your enemy away... and I bet this sound fulfills the original purpose ![]() ...twice the wave memory is twice as good... LOL... maybe twice as much knobs too? of course twice as good then!... New voice architecture? Maybe but still sampling, hey Yamaha, where is real synthesis? ... where is a VST host? With softsynths you don't need to sample oodles of crazy stuff... patch data is much less! I stick with my opinion, Tyros 3 is for the ones who do not have a Tyros at all but I think it's crazy for most others to do expensive instrument upgrades every 3 years... sorry Yamaha. Maybe I am back with the next Tyros. ![]() Best regards t2user |

I dont think original bagpipes have such a vibrato on it. It sounds like a synth-bagpipe to me ![]() |

...just image a bagpipe band... a war batallion... intentionally horribly detuned, you never can tune many bagpipes perfectly... LOL... when you ever have listened to a bagpipe player you'll know why they make the same amount of money in 15min on a weddign an entertainer has to play 2h for... LOL... no normal man can listen to this type of music longer than 15min... ..guess what, ever jouned a bagpipt competition?... even the judges wear ear-protectors... LOL... good ol' scottish habit, never take too much... except single malt of course...

Well fuck me Scotty to the rescue! I had no idea such a terrible sounding thing could exist.I guess this sheds a whole new light on things The Tyros3 version of this... "thing" sounds pretty authentic now. Let's hope the future demos are more contemporary.Regarding Ken's comments about the piano, I have nothing negative to say about the new piano sound. About time it starts sounding like a grand. |

Yes, but Yamaha should try making a grand then and not modifying other sounds pretending to be a grand. Thats what I ment ![]() But I'm sure Yamaha have something new for us after 3 years since the T2 came

Well, what I'd like to see is XLR connectors.. more polyphony.. built in HD/USB2 multitrack recording and mixing. But I don't think that's going to happen. The octave change buttons would appear to be on the left now, which is a good thing. |

I doubt that even super articulation 3 would be able to come close to an original performance... except you add some new very strange controllers to your tyros...

wtf.. so what's the deal? What is the damn thing finally? Scott probably meant it isn't a traditional style scottish bagpipe with the big sack and few cocks sticking out, but the "Uilleann pipes" a.k.a Irish bagpipe? We all on the ball here?

Well it sounds just like the video Scott posted. Hopefully we'll get some useful stuff next. I'd hate to be playing the Union Pipes at a wedding reception. I haven't started playing funerals yet. |

thewolf wrote:...but the "Uilleann pipes" a.k.a Irish bagpipe? We all on the ball here? Wolfie, exactly that's the thing Scott meant and is in the video... There are probably as many types of bagpipes as there are guitars, bases or anything else, some with names I can't translate (like "Bock" ... with oodles of differences in type of thrones and playing pipes. The great "highland bagpipe" (proper name of the scottish pipe we all know - and love... LOL) is the "terrorist" among the pipes I would say...![]() Dunno if any tyros needs an extended set of bagpipe sounds - get the real things! More impressive and your concerts will be much shorter - make more money by plaing real pipes...
